Aasa Ki Vaar

आसा की वार

वार पंजाबी का एक लोकप्रिय काव्य रूप है जिसमें साधारणतया किसी वीर के कारनामों का चित्रण और उसका यशोगान किया जाता है। आसा की वार में गुरु नानक ने सृष्टि कर्ता परमात्मा, उसके नाम तथा सतगुरु की महिमा की है। वाणी में नैतिक कर्तव्यों पर ज़ोर देने के साथ-साथ उन्होंने कर्मकांड, जाति प्रथा और बुरे रिवाजों का खुलकर खंडन भी किया है। आसा की वार में हौंमैं को एक पुराना रोग बताया गया है लेकिन हमें विश्वास भी दिलाया गया है कि परमात्मा ने इस रोग की दवा भी गुरु के नाम की भक्ति के रूप में इसी शरीर में रखी है। नाम के अभ्यास से हौंमैं का नाश हो जाता है और मुक्ति के द्वार खुल जाते हैं।

A vaar is a popular style of Punjabi poetry that generally depicts the exploits of a folk hero and showers praise on him. Guru Nanak composed Aasa ki Vaar in praise of God, the Guru and Nam. The text also emphasizes strong ethical commitments and openly repudiates rituals, the caste system and slavish customs. Aasa ki Vaar describes ego as a chronic malady, but assures us at the same time that God has also incorporated the remedy into the system - the practice of the Guru's Shabd that destroys ego and opens the door to liberation.
